A siker egyik oka az album els kislemeze, az American Idiot c. dal, amely grbetkrt tart az amerikai trsadalom, s fknt George W. Bush elnk el. Billie Joe Armstrong nekes szerint Mr. Bush az eddigi legrosszabb amerikai elnk. A zenekar egybknt legutoljra 4 ve azaz 2000-ben jelentkezett j stdialbummal.
Mlt hten New Yorkban, az Irving Plazban megtrtnt a lemez els l lemezbemutatja is. Elg kockzatos vllalkozs volt ez a zenekartl, hiszen a lemez csak nhny rval korbban kerlt ki a boltok polcaira, gy a koncertltogatk mg nagy valsznsggel nem hallottk a dalokat. A rajongkat azonban ez egyltaln nem akadlyozta meg abban, hogy felforgassk a termet.
A dalok pontosan ugyanolyan sorrendben hangzottak el, mint ahogy a lemezen tallhatk, hiszen az album tulajdonkppen egy punk-rock opera, melynek tmja a tkozl fi trtnete. Radsknt pedig - melyet a publikum kvetelt ki magnak - a Queen: We are the champions c. dalt adtk el.

Novemberben jelenik meg a Green Day DVD
Az amerikai rockbanda november 14-n fogja kiadni azt a DVD-jt, amelyet a kt Milton Keys-i fellpsk sorn ksztettek. A koncertek maguk nemben egyedlllak, hiszen a Green Day korbban soha nem jtszott ilyen npes kznsg elõtt.
A DVD mr csak azrt is nagy rdeklõdsre tarthat szmot, mivel a felvteleket az a Sam Bayer irnytotta, aki a Nirvana Smells Like Teen Spirit cmû dalhoz kszlt klipet is rendezte.
